LEAVE A LEGACY FOR LIVING
THE POWER OF YOUR WILL
PROVIDES FOR THE PEOPLE AND CHARITIES YOU CARE ABOUT
Making a will is one of the most powerful ways you have of ensuring friends and family have what they need when you can no longer be there for them. Throughout their lives, most people save to make their homes comfortable and to look after the people they care about.
Making a will is one way to ensure that the people and cause you love are provided for when you die. It also gives you a wonderful opportunity to make a real and lasting contribution to organisations like the Diabetes Federation of Ireland and Diabetes Ireland Research Alliance, whose work you have supported during your lifetime.
If you die without making a will, your close family (that is your spouse and children) is automatically entitled to your estate. If you don’t have a close family, your (other) relations will share but perhaps not the way you intended. Every year the Diabetes Federation of Ireland invests thousands of pounds in diabetes research, services and care, to help improve the lives of everyone living with diabetes. Yet we receive very little financial support from the Government. Everything we do relies upon the generosity and vision of people who appreciate our work and who want to support us. Your will provides a unique opportunity to make a lasting contribution to your favourite charity. A legacy is a very special gift that will help people for years to come.
Here you’ll find all the important things you need to know about making or updating your will and leaving a special gift to help the Diabetes Federation of Ireland and/or Diabetes Ireland Research Alliance. Spend some time reading it and you will discover what a powerful difference you can make to people’s lives – especially those nearest and dearest to you – with your will.
